Ceylon cinnamon is light, has thinner layers folded inside, and contains much lower levels of coumarin, so it has a smoother taste.

Known spice from biblical times, it was one of the ingredients of the holy ointment of Moses. The Egyptians used it in mummification, while traders kept its origin secret to have the monopoly. Considered a luxury spice and navigators of the time you were excited by the aroma was always in search of it. Later on the Portuguese and the Dutch exploited their colonies in these areas, took over the spice trade and made accessible in Europe.

In cooking it is one of the most common spices suitable for spicy dishes and sweet dishes. It gives flavor to grilled meat dishes in the pot, as in many sweets or oven. With cinnamon also gave aroma and taste to wine, hot drinks, alcoholic or not, even refreshing drinks.

Secret Detox Drink Recipe

This first recipe is one of my favorite ways to use cinnamon’s antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties…in a detox! Combined with these other powerhouse cleansing ingredients you can bring down any inflammation and get your body on track fast!

Total Time: 2 minutes

Serves: 1

INGREDIENTS:

1 glass of water (12-16 oz.)

2 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar

2 Tbsp. lemon juice

1 tsp. Cinnamon

1 dash Cayenne Pepper(optional)

stevia or honey for taste

Directions:

Warm the water.

mix all ingredients together.

Best served warm but drink at desired temperature.
